Your writing
How we handle your writing.
Path of Prose is for people who want to write their own book. Here is what happens to your text, who may see it, and how you can check.
What the app does with it
It stores your books with Amazon Web Services in the United States and keeps them up to date on each of your devices. Your writing goes to us and nowhere else. Most Review tools run on your device; the line edit and copyedit run on our side, with plain rules.
What it never does
- Write for you. Nothing drafts, continues, rewrites or suggests your text.
- Send your words to an AI service. The app has no AI features.
- Track you. No analytics, pixels, chat widgets, captchas or third-party fonts.
Who may see it, and why
We look at a book only to fix a problem or answer you. If we use an AI tool while helping you, the privacy policy says which one and what it may see. When you ask for help, a box lets you ask us to keep AI tools away from that request. Tick it and we will try to respect that.
How you can check
You don’t have to take our word for it. On a computer:
- Open this page, or the app, and press F12. That opens your browser’s developer tools.
- Click the Network tab, then reload the page.
- You’ll see a list of every place the page talked to. Each one is our site, our sign-in or our file storage. There is nothing else to find.
Take it with you, or delete it
Download a full backup as one zip file, or export plain text or Markdown, any time, free. A deleted book goes to the archive, where it stays until you choose Delete forever, so you can bring it back.
Two careful exceptions
- Reminders. If you turn on writing reminders, your browser’s push service (Google, Apple, Mozilla or Microsoft) delivers them. A reminder carries no text from your book.
- Read-aloud. We list only voices your device says are on-device. If you pick an online voice, we name who receives the text and ask first.
