Outline your book

The Outline has five pages: Shape, Threads, Outline, Timeline and Ready to write. Show pages lists them.

Pick a shape

On Shape, choose Pick a template, open a card, then choose Use and its name, such as Use Three-Act. Its beats appear, each with the point in the book where it falls. Write a line or two for each. Switch framework changes it later; nothing you wrote in a beat is lost.

Add chapters and scenes

On the Outline page, choose Add chapter, then Add scene. Select a scene to fill in its card: who is there, the goal, the conflict and what changes.

Put them in order

Select a row, then open the ⋯ beside View and choose Move up or Move down. You can also hold Alt and press the arrow keys, or drag a row by its handle (⠿). Every scene you add here is waiting for you in Write.
